The Evil Empire bends for no mere agent!

Are you kidding me?

Funny what happens when you price your boy out of the market., isn’t it? Regardless of how this shakes out, all of sports owes the Yankees (and A-Rod) a pat on the back for handing Scott Boras some of his teeth.

Proving Murray Chass and company are basically idiots, there was an article by a Columbia law professor in the NYT predicting that A-Rod wanted to be a Yankee the whole time and this was all strategy weeks ago.

If A-Rod goes around Boras to make a deal, that’s all well and good. But it’s a far from heroic. I seem to remember Andre Dawson- arguably the best player in the NL at the time- going to the Cubs with a blank contract and saying, “Fill in the blanks. I want to play here.” If A-Rod really wants to wow the Yankee fan base, he’ll do the same. You know that the Yankees would fork over a ludicrous amount of money and it would be a PR gold mine for both the Yankees and A-Rod.

Oh, I’m not about to call anything that happens in relation to a baseball diamond “heroic.” We all see too much on the news to know that real heroes don’t get paid millions to play a kid’s game.

It’s just gratifying to see Boras get his for once.
