I think you've got some major egos wanting to keep the spotlight for themselves, and won't see another VC selection anytime soon. Also, Joe Morgan is a pompous, ignorant windbag. His comments about the situation implied that they would be lowering their standards if they let Santo in. Every time Joe Morgan opens his mouth, he lowers the IQ of the Hall, himself. Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, Bob Gibson, Juan Marichal, Tom Seaver, and Jim Bunning were all putting up sick numbers in the NL during Santo's prime years. As an example, Santo hit 31 homers in 1967, and this was tied for third in the league. The same total would have placed well outside the Top 10 in either league last season. Not to mention that the heart of his career took place doing one of the strongest pitching eras in the history of the game.
